sophie's world |
...a chronicle of our pregnancy and new daughter |
2.19.2010
what a winter! our family has had the worst run of luck with illness this season. sophie and i kicked things off with what we're pretty sure was n1h1 flu, then ben got his first and second ear infections, along with the usual smattering of sniffles and runny noses for everyone. and now sophie and i have both just suffered through another nasty virus that was likely the seasonal flu - for me it resulted in a sinus infection and ear infection, but for poor sophie it turned into pneumonia. yup, that's right, our sweet little girl spend the morning in the doctor's office and getting chest x-rays and has been diagnosed with pneumonia. she has been miserable since monday afternoon, and yesterday i started realizing there was something more serious going on when her cough started sounding different and she was in a whole new pain, to the point where she couldn't move herself and would cry out if anyone had to pick her up. now she's home and resting, with antibiotics and prescription anti-nausea medicine (so she'll keep the antibiotics down), and is finally sleeping on the couch. oh - and to make things even better, this was school vacation week. in all reality, it was probably better for her to be sick when she didn't have to miss school and ballet and all of that, but at the same time - what a bummer for her! i'd had all kinds of fun plans in mind, play dates made, and such - but she's spent the entire week stuck on the couch. i promised we'd do something really fun when she's finally feeling better - and hopefully that will be soon!
