...a chronicle of our pregnancy and new daughter |
11.03.2009
sick girl poor sophie has been awfully sick for the past few days. i was battling something at the end of last week, which eventually felt very much like the flu. adam helped out SO much and i stayed away from the kids as much as possible, but sophie started feeling bad on sunday morning. i'm thankful that she made it through halloween just fine, because she would have been terribly disappointed to have missed out. at first, she just seemed extra tired on sunday morning, which we thought might just have been from being up late on halloween and all of the excitement of the day... but then she started running a fever and was feeling really miserable. by monday morning, her fever was up to nearly 104 between medicine doses, she'd thrown up a few times, and she was really out of sorts. we did take her in to the doctor's office, mainly to find out if it was one of the strains of flu so we would know when it comes time to get flu shots if she even needs them... no point giving her a shot for something she's already had. the doctor said that she didn't have "the flu" but instead had a flu-like virus (which, in the end, is essentially the same thing as far as treatment goes). we need to watch her for breathing difficulties and dehydration, but other than that she just needs to rest and let it run its course. she hasn't really eaten since saturday, with the exception of some yogurt and a popsicle yesterday (which she threw up anyhow), but she is sipping water consistently. she does seem slightly better than yesterday, but she's still really miserable. she hasn't really been off the couch since sunday morning, and i don't think she will be today either. here's to hoping it doesn't last much longer!
